Knowledge Bowl Rules
- Youth will be divided up into teams of six by the NELE committee.
- The Knowledge Bowl is in Jeopardy style. There will be six categories with a total of thirty questions.
- Each of the six categories will be divided into point values: 100 points, 200, 400, 800, and 1000. The lower point values will contain easier questions, higher point values harder questions.
- The team to choose the first category and point value will be decided by guessing a random number. Whichever team guesses the number, or closest to the number without going over, will get to be the first to choose.
- Once the question is read, the teams will work together to decide on an answer. Whichever team guesses the correct
answer first gets the points and gets to choose the next category and point value.
- “First” will be decided by a show of hands. The team that has a hand up first, with the question ready within twenty seconds, gets to answer the question. If they are correct, they get the points. If they are incorrect, the next team with a hand up gets to answer.
- If no team answers the question correctly, the right to choose the next category is given to the team that last answered a question correctly.
- This process will continue until all of the questions are answered.
- When the original thirty questions are answered, there will be a “Final Jeopardy Question.”
- There will be a category for Final Jeopardy. It will be announced before any bets are placed.
- Teams are allowed to bet their acquired points. These bets must be placed before the question is read. It is allowable for a team to decide not to bet.
- Once the question is read, teams will have two minutes to discuss an answer. At the end of two minutes, teams will be asked to reveal their answers. If the answer is correct, the bet value will be added to the original score. If the answer is incorrect, the value will be deducted.
- The team with the most points wins.
