Purebred Beef Sale & Feeder Calf Sale Results
MBPA held its Spring Feeder Calf Sale in conjunction with NELE and is pleased to announce the sale results. Sixteen Maine
consignors entered 152 animals, most of which were calves or yearlings. New to the sale this year were a 3 year old
registered Angus bull, a number of bred cows and some cows that sold with calves at their side. These provided bidders with
opportunities to begin or expand a beef herd.
The highest bid on a per pound basis was for a calf from Larry Thornburg, which brought $1.29/lb. Lowest bid per pound was
$0.67, with almost 65% of the calves and yearlings going for at least $0.90/lb. The high selling bred cow was consigned by
Steve McGee, which sold for $725. The highest selling cow/calf pair brought $775 and was consigned by Simon Stoll, as was the bull, which sold for $1010.
